It
all began in 1976 when a group of Indonesian Christians decided to
gather regularly for a Bible Study under the guidance of Rev. John
Lim. Initially they met at the houses of the members and then as they
grew, they began to rent rooms at different churches, such as Church
of the Open Bible (Rosemead) and First Baptist of Temple City.

|
| In October 1980 this group decided
to establish what is now known as First Indonesian Baptist Church, which is
the first Indonesian church in Los Angeles area with Rev. John Lim as the
first pastor.
Initial members were 66 people. |

On July 10, 1983 FIBC moved to
our present location at 201 E. Lime Ave. It's because of God's
blessings and grace, and the support and participation of all
members that we could raise enough fund to purchase this
building. Furthermore, a year later, FIBC was accepted to be a
member of Transformation
Ministries (formerly American Baptist Churches of the Pacific Southwest) |

|
| After serving as the pastor for
22 years, Rev. John Lim retired at the end of 1998 but continues
to preach not only at this church but also at other
churches. |
